Our Mission

Kidzcare Pediatrics’ mission is to provide quality health care for children, while promoting the education of their families. It is a place where both, the children and their families can have a joyful and fun experience while visiting the doctor.

Saji Gopinathan, M.D. FAAP

Dr. Saji earned his medical degree from the University of Kerala and completed postgraduate training in Pediatrics at the University of Bombay, followed by residency and a Pediatric Cardiology fellowship at NYU Medical Center. Board Certified by the American Academy of Pediatrics, he has cared for children in Athens, TN since 2002 and has been a strong supporter of the local communities for over 20 years.

Davida Asbury, FNP

Davida Asbury is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner and Athens native dedicated to caring for children in her hometown. A graduate of East Tennessee State University, she was twice voted “Best of the Best” in nursing while working in the newborn nursery and labor and delivery at Starr Regional Medical Center. She brings compassion, experience, and a true passion for pediatrics to every family she serves.

Kaylee Loy , CPNP-CP

Kaylee Loy is a Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner who earned her Master of Science in Nursing from King University. Originally from Maryville, TN, she has experience in both inpatient and outpatient pediatric care and is passionate about serving children and families at KidzCare Pediatrics. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband and daughter, doing puzzles, and cheering on the Tennessee Volunteers and Kansas City Chiefs.

Faith Newman , FNP

Faith Newman is a Family Nurse Practitioner who was born and raised in Madisonville, Tennessee. She earned both her Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Master of Science in Nursing–Family Nurse Practitioner from South College. Before becoming a nurse practitioner, she gained extensive experience in emergency and critical care nursing.

Faith is passionate about providing compassionate, high-quality care to children through every stage of growth and development. She is dedicated to building lasting relationships with families and helping children achieve their best health.

Outside of the clinic, Faith enjoys spending time with her husband and daughter. She is excited to care for the children and families of the community she proudly calls home.

Annetta Newman, LPC

Annetta earned her Bachelor’s in Psychology from Tennessee Wesleyan College and a Master’s in Community Counseling from the University of Tennessee, Chattanooga. She became a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in 2011 and serves on the Board of Nationally Certified Counselors. A member of the American Counseling Association, Annetta has worked in public health, community mental health, and early intervention. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, shopping, movies, and time with friends.

Michael Hernandez, LPC-MHSP, NCC

Michael Hernandez is a Licensed Professional Counselor and National Certified Counselor with nearly 20 years of counseling experience. He began his career in 2006 working on an inpatient crisis stabilization unit and began providing outpatient therapy to children and teenagers in 2010.

Michael earned his Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Hawaii at Hilo and his Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from Lee University. He has also served as the director of a mental health center that provided outpatient therapy, case management, and medication management services for children, teens, and adults.

Michael is passionate about supporting children, adolescents, and families through compassionate, individualized care. He lives in Cleveland, Tennessee, with his wife, Kara, and their daughter, Amariah.

Kelsey Keeler, FNP

Kelsey Keeler is a Family Nurse Practitioner with a strong background in critical care nursing. A proud graduate of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and Carson Newman University, she is also a member of the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing. Kelsey is passionate about caring for children and families in the community and is excited to be part of the KidzCare Pediatrics team. In her free time, she enjoys the outdoors, traveling, and spending time with family.

Hailey Parente, PA

Hailey Parente is a certified Physician Assistant who grew up in Athens, TN. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences and Master of Public Health at East Tennessee State University, followed by her Master of Medical Science in Physician Assistant Studies at Lincoln Memorial University. Before PA school, she worked as a Patient Care Technician at Starr Regional Medical Center. Passionate about caring for children, Hailey is excited to serve families as part of the KidzCare team. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, family time, and snuggling with her dog, Bruno.

Alexis Mcdaniel, PA

Alexis McDaniel is a certified Physician Assistant with a background in surgical care and a passion for pediatrics. Originally from Havelock, NC, she earned her Public Health degree at East Carolina University and completed PA training at South College in Knoxville, TN. Alexis enjoys the outdoors, hunting with her husband, and spending time with family and her two dogs.

Christin McAlister, PA

Christin McAlister is a Physician Assistant certified through the National Commission of Certification of Physician Assistants. Christin grew up in Knoxville, TN. She earned her Bachelors in Kinesiology at the University of TN, Knoxville. She attended PA school at Presbyterian College in South Carolina. Prior to becoming a PA, she was a nursing assistant at an assisted living facility. She was also a medical scribe and medical assistant at an orthopedic clinic. Christin has always had a desire to help others. She is excited to provide care to the pediatric population. In her spare time, she loves to cook, bake, read, and spend time with family.
